As a motorcycle enthusiast from his youth, speed would always be his temptation. In 1962, after decades of designing and experimenting, he took the world speed record at Bonneville Salt Flats (USA) going 179.9 mph for his class. His ride was an extensively modified 1919 Indian Scout.
